Charlie began his career at Morgan Stanley, working from 2000 to 2006 in operational roles across fixed income and equities. He went on to spend over 10 years in COO roles for various London-based investment management firms, with board seats on several Cayman Funds and Irish UCITS companies. During this time, he established three investment management companies, including FCA authorisation; design, implementation, and management of the operating infrastructure (with responsibility for operations, finance, legal, compliance, dealing and IT); structured, launched, and managed the operations of 14 Cayman funds and 2 Irish UCITS companies; and was nominated for ‘Best Operator in Fixed Income Single Fund Manager’ in the Financial News awards for excellence in operations.
Maria has over 20 years of experience in the investment management and banking industry – variously as Legal Counsel, Head of Product Development, and Senior Advisor at Barclays, Merrill Lynch and BlackRock. In March 2011, she joined GLG PARTNERs based in London/Milan advising on legal, regulatory, and business strategy. In conjunction with the GLG EM team, she in 2013 established and co-founded, APQ, an emerging markets investment manager, which listed on AIM/CISE in 2016. Maria holds a Double Degree in Law and Commerce from the University of Otago in New Zealand, was a visiting Scholar at the University of California Berkeley (Haas School of Business and Boalt School of Law), and was shortlisted Investment Woman of the Year for Small/Medium Firms in 2019.
David is a successful entrepreneur and co-founder of Harmonic Capital, one of the largest systematic hedge funds in Europe where his responsibilities spanned investments, business strategy, finance, risk, compliance, and IT. Following a management buyout, David departed Harmonic in 2016 and has since then pursued a variety of business and personal interests. David’s domain knowledge together with his ability to understand complex problems and the needs of stakeholders across all disciplines and business areas allows him to deliver elegant and practical solutions and strategies to solve real-world business issues. His academic background is in computing and technology and he holds a MA in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge.
Neil is a highly experienced operations professional with over 30 years expertise in the finance industry who has worked both as COO/CCO for hedge funds and as an ODD professional for a major hedge fund investor so has sat on both sides of the due diligence table. Before working on the buy side, Neil ran product control for several hedge fund facing businesses at Deutsche Bank and before that, Nomura, including stock lending and Prime Brokerage businesses. Neil began his career at BDO as an auditor specialising in finance and trained as a Chartered Accountant. Neil holds a Physics degree from Liverpool University.
Jonathan has over 30 years experience in finance including 15 years as a partner and CFO/COO of a $1bn hedge fund management firm. This involved incorporating multiple funds and managed accounts including one of the first ESG mandates, as well as US onshore and Cayman offshore funds. He also served as a director on the boards of several funds and ran the risk oversight, derivative utilisation and analysis, compliance, marketing, legal requirements at fund and manager level, investor relations, as well as service provider selection. Originally a graduate trainee at Cazenove & Co., Jonathan became an equity analyst before moving to derivative sales and structuring. He then co-founded a new desk at Panmure Gordon while more recently Jonathan serves as a director of a private wealth manager. He is a Chartered member of the CISI.
Catherine is a fund management professional with over 20 years’ experience in trading, risk management and compliance. She has held senior roles in several alternative start up asset managers. Catherine spent 8 years working for two businesses within Credit Suisse Asset Management. Catherine was COO and CRO of Aventicum Capital Management where she was responsible for all business and fund operations and risk across the EM credit business and was also a fund director. After Aventicum, Catherine became COO of Arini Credit Strategies, a long/short European credit strategy. Previously, Catherine was part of the original emerging markets team from the ANZ Bank, instrumental in the successful start-up of Ashmore Group, the leading EM Investment Manager. She served as Head of Risk Management and Control, as well as a Portfolio Manager launching and managing a $2b AAA rated Money Market Fund and running the $2b repo book. Catherine holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.
Alex graduated from the University of East Anglia with a First-class degree in Economics. He studied various modules including Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Financial Markets, and Alternative Investments. Following a short period acquiring some hands-on employment, Alex joined the Fund HQ team at the end of 2021. He provides operational assistance to clients of Fund HQ. Alex handles the operations for multiple hedge funds across a wide range of investment strategies and plays a pivotal role in the day to day functioning of Fund HQ.
Richa is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. She trained with specialist accountancy firm, Rees Pollock, and has worked as an auditor, management accountant and financial controller across a number of sectors but has specialised in working with owner managed businesses in the financial services industry. At Fund HQ, Richa provides her clients with an outsourced back-office finance function, supporting them from set-up to assisting with ongoing accounting, payroll, management reporting and budgeting services.
